La Prensa Covers Miraflores
I was very pleased that Adda Montalvo of San Antonio's bilingual news site, La Prensa, recently covered Miraflores and my upcoming book. Ms. Montalvo not only interviewed me and wrote the story, entitled "Parque Miraflores recobrará su brillo con restauración y libro de memorias;" she also took some great photographs. This is a special story for me, because for the first time in recent history La Prensa has featured Miraflores and and the story is in Spanish.* I'm excited to reach new audiences, and especially happy that my family and friends in Mexico can enjoy an article about la familia Urrutia en San Antonio.
I particularly loved some of Montalvo's imagery. She was right on target in her use of the statue of Cuautémoc as the central figure of the garden:
Con el brazo firme e imponente, la estatua de Cuauhtémoc, el último emperador azteca de Tenochtitlán en 1521, señala el cielo azul de San Antonio. Su gesto es de triunfo y resistencia.
And she understands that I am trying to look back into history at how the garden was when it was created.
...es un intento de mirar hacia atrás, hacia el jardín y cómo fue creado.
And she perceives that Miraflores is a garden that is lost in time.
...sin embargo, Miraflores es un jardín perdido en el tiempo...
All of these words are music to my ears. ¡Gracias Adda, un artículo magnífico!
*By the way, even if you don't read Spanish, if you open the article in Google Chrome, it will offer to translate for you. It's not perfect, but it's pretty good!
